Ashray is a collection center for abandoned, sold, kidnapped and / or prostituted children in the streets of Mumbai. The majority are children of prostitutes who do not remember their mothers. Some have been sold by their own parents and few of them are saved from the clutches of AIDS.

They do not speak English and when one has studied philology the little thing you can do for them is to make them smile for a while, so I settled in this NGO. In part to take away the western tourist complex with camera in hand that passes by a living safari filming the “animals” that it finds along the way, and on the other to at least make life a little happier, if one may, to these children whose half may not be even ten years old.

The first day they put me in a room with 30 of these children without explaining to me too much what I should do with them. They received me with a "Joan petit com balla" that blew my mind; legacy of a Catalan volunteer who passed through here!
