Perhaps I am not impartial when I say that Alicante feels like a glove the appellation of La Millor Terreta del Món (The Best Land in the World) with which the city is known. Yes, I imagine you already knew: I am from Alicante.
The truth is that in Alicante you live in luxury. With a privileged climate of more than 300 sunny days a year, a healthy, tasty and varied cuisine, dream beaches, mountains and small and quiet villages, stands as one of the main tourist destinations in Spain. And that, in a country where tourism is the jewel of the economic crown, that is to say a lot.
The blue flags - awarded by the European Union to the best quality beaches and services on the continent - are multiplied endlessly by the Alicante coast, better known by the name of White shore.
The Costa Blanca ranges from Pilar de la Horadada, in the south, to Denia, in the far north. Along it, you will find beaches and coves of different types, all bathed by the calm and clean waters of the Mediterranean.
Although it is difficult to choose the best beaches of the Costa Blanca, these are some of the ones that I can recommend, based on my experience:
A little further north, we find the tourist spot par excellence of Alicante and, without a doubt, of the entire Valencian Community.
Benidorm is a place that lives immersed in a perennial holiday weather. Not only I mean the weather, but also the holiday. In Benidorm, the Moors and Christians, the Fallas, the Bonfires, the festivities of the Virgen del Sufragio, Carnivals, the Oktoberfest are celebrated ... You see, endless party.
Its two beaches, that of West and LevanteThey have visitors all year long. Benidorm enjoys an even more pleasant microclimate than the rest of the province.
Although both beaches have very similar characteristics, Poniente beach is somewhat longer (3.1 km, 2.1 km from Levante) and quieter. Levante beach is the busiest in terms of environment, since its promenade appears taken by restaurants, hotels and bars in which the party lasts from the afternoon until the early morning.
Separating the two beaches, is the Mal Pas Creek, a sand patch located just under the famous Balcony of the Mediterranean, a place that has the best views of Benidorm.
Accommodation in Benidorm is something that is not scarce, precisely. Three recommended hotels are: Gran Hotel Bali, Cabana and Madeira Centro.
Views of Calpe from the top of the Rock of Ifach
About 20 kilometers north of Benidorm is the population of Calpe.
As you approach the coast of Calpe, your attention is captured by the enormous limestone rock that seems to emerge from the depths of the Mediterranean as if it were a stone Poseidon. Its about Ifach Rock.
With its 332 meters high, it is one of the most spectacular natural parks in the Valencian Community. A path leads from the base to its top, from where the two beaches of Calpe can be seen. Along the way you can see more than 80 different bird species.
If you are more than lying quietly, you can do it in the sand of the beach of Calpe. After enjoying a good bath in its waters, I advise you to try the seafood of the good restaurants that take the promenade.
Also near the beach you will find the Diamante Beach hotel. And a little further south, just between the stone beach of the romantic Altea and the entrance to Calpe, is the Cap Negret hotel, which has access to a small private beach.
